NEWS AND EVENTS

BOOK FAIR

When? Saturday, November 2nd, from 5pm to 7pm.

Where? Porter Square Books, 25 White Street, Cambridge -- in the Star Market shopping complex in Porter Square.

Kids need books! We invite you to join us to pool our book buying for the fall and the holiday season and do so for a cause. 20% of all proceeds -- books for kids, books for adults, and all other merchandise -- sold during the fair comes back to the Brown PTA in store credit. We will use this credit to buy books for Brown students in the backpack program, which delivers food assistance to families who need it.

Classroom libraries

Many Brown School teachers have provided us wish lists of books they'd like to add to their classroom libraries. We'll send out these lists by email before the event. Families are welcome to purchase and donate during the fair. You can give to the teacher directly, and the PTA will also collect books for teachers. Feel free to attach a post it note with your name so the teacher can thank you!

Getting the books you want

One way to ensure you get the books you want is to preorder. First search for a book on the PSB website. Search results will state if the book is on the shelves, in the warehouse, or hard to find. If it's in the warehouse, and even if on the shelves (it may sell out!), you can preorder it through the website and pick up during the fair. But time is running out! The bookstore tells us the deadline for preordering is Monday morning, start of business.

Another option is to buy a gift certificate during the fair. You can give that as a gift, or you can use it yourself to buy books at a later date. 20% still goes to our cause!

If you can't go, but can shop online

No problem! Online orders made during the fair (Saturday Nov 2, 5-7pm) will qualify as long as you put in the comments field "Brown School Book Fair."
